Associate Professor Hairil Rizal Abdullah MBBS MMed MSc PhD is a Senior Consultant Anaesthesiologist and Clinician Scientist at Singapore General Hospital. He is the Director, Office of Value Based Healthcare, at both SGH and SingHealth. In these roles, Hairil guides and executes Value Based Healthcare strategic transformation efforts across all 13 of SingHealth’s institutions, which looks after the health needs of more than 1.5 million Singapore residents. His work focuses on measuring outcomes that matter to patients, scaling PROMs, reducing low-value care through de-implementation, and embedding value into everyday clinical decision-making. He founded SGH’s Perioperative Medicine Service in 2014, and has led multiple high impact programmes such as Patient Blood Management, Surgical Prehabilitation, ERAS, Perioperative AI and Choosing Wisely Singapore. His contributions have been recognised at the national level through the Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship, NMRC Clinician Scientist Award, SingHealth Distinguished Champion of Change Leader Award, and Distinguished Team Award.
