Catherine MacLean, MD, PhD, professor of medicine at Weil Cornell Medical College, is the Principal at Healthcare Value Solutions, her consulting firm which
advises on strategies, implementation and evaluation of value-based programs. She is an internationally recognized expert on healthcare value, big health data,
and patient reported outcomes (PROMs) with a diverse leadership experience including as the Senior Vice President and Chief Value Medical Officer at the
Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), maintaining HSS’ USNWR #1 ranking throughout her tenure, facilitating best-in-class performance on value-based
contracts and obtaining recognition by the World Economic Forum as a Value Innovation Hub; as an executive at Elevance Health; as a principal investigator
on numerous academic research projects at UCLA and RAND; and as a director, chair or participant on numerous national boards, committees and panels related
to health care quality and value. She currently serves as an associate editor at NEJM Catalyst and as a member of the National Quality Forum’s Advisory Group
for Advancing Measurement of Diagnostic Excellence.
Dr. MacLean obtained her MD from Washington University, St. Louis. She completed her training in internal medicine at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center,
and in rheumatology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She obtained her PhD in health services from UCLA’s School of Public Health.
