She is a Full Professor of Medicine at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), senior researcher from the Brazilian National Agency (CNPq). Head of the Cardiology Service at Hospital Moinhos de Vento, since 2013, and an attending physician at the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre. She is the coordinator of the Institute for Health Technology Assessment (IATS/CNPq) and have dedicated the last decades on studies on health economics, technology assessment and use of real-world data, with an emphasis on cost-effectiveness, disease management, and incorporation of technology. Carisi is leading initiatives in the implementation and research of Value-Based Health Care (VBHC), with a focus on applying ICHOM standard sets and the TDABC methodology. In collaboration with the Hospital Moinhos de Vento team, she received the NEJM Catalyst Award at the 2024 ICHOM Conference. She is also the co-founder of PEV, a consulting firm that delivers scientifically grounded projects aimed at increasing efficiency and value across the health system. In 2025, she will be honored with the American Heart Association International Visiting Professorship Award, working in partnership with Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston to advance research on the health and economic value of cardiovascular care.
