David N. Bernstein, MD, PhD, MBA, MEI is a Harvard-trained orthopaedic surgeon completing additional training in foot and ankle surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital before joining the faculty at Boston Children’s Hospital. In addition, David is a former senior researcher at Harvard Business School under Professors Michael E. Porter and Robert (Bob) S. Kaplan and current Faculty Director of Harvard Medical School’s Surgical Leadership Certificate Program. To date, he has published over 150 manuscripts in top scientific journals, authored a variety of opinion pieces and commentary articles in popular business and mainstream media outlets (Harvard Business Review (HBR), Fox News, The Boston Globe, STAT, The Hill, New York Daily News, among others), and contributed to several global research reports, including as the lead author of a G20 report. A sought-after global expert in health care transformation, he is often asked to provide guidance and strategic recommendations to government officials, health systems, and industry on how to address some of health care’s biggest challenges.
